RZA – “Ooh I Love You Rakeem” review

Just a few months after the GZA released his debut album Words from the Genius under Cold Chillin’, the RZA (with the help of Tommy Boy Entertainment) is now giving as a 3 track EP as well as the 2nd & final solo release to come out before the almighty Wu-Tang Clan’s debut Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) did. The EP starts off with the title track, where RZA’s smoothly talking about all the chicks he has over a jazzy beat. The EP’s second track “Deadly Venoms” is a braggadocious track while the beat on sounds symphonic throughout the verses but when the hook comes around it turn’s kinda funky. The production on the closing track “Sexcapades” sounds like a pre-cursor to the Clan’s debut, but I don’t think the lyrics don’t fit style of production. I personally prefer Words from the Genius but if you’re a huge Wu fan like me &/or if you wanna hear RZA’s beginnings, then definitely check this EP out

Score: 3.5/5
