Method Man & Redman – “Blackout!” review

After making their debut as a duo on with the track “How High” off The Show soundtrack just 4 years back, Wu-Tang Clan member Method Man and Def Squad member Redman are hitting us with their 1st full-length album together. The 2 have shown us their perfect chemistry in the past, but now they’re trying to show us that it can stand for an entire album. And it totally does as evident with tracks such as the abrasively Erick Sermon produced title track which sets the tone for the entire album in my opinion, the eerie RZA produced “Cereal Killer” where Meth & Red are pretty much living up to the song’s title & atmosphere by talking about what they were do if they were both serial killers, the short but perfectly ruckus bringing “Da Rockwilder” which is one of my favorite hip hop songs of all-time, the funky DJ Scratch produced “1, 2, 1, 2” & the Mathematics produced closer “Fire ina Hole”. To me, this album is EXACTLY what I wanted from the duo. Consistently hard-hitting beats & hardcore rhymes from start to finish

Score: 4.5/5
